Epson, a global leader in innovative technology solutions, is proud to announce the opening of its new offices in Cape Town. This milestone demonstrates Epson’s commitment to fostering deeper relationships with local customers, partners, and communities while supporting the growth of South Africa’s technology sector.
The new Cape Town office will complement Epson’s recently opened Innovation Centre in Johannesburg, which has quickly become a key hub for sustainable technology solutions and industry growth. Located strategically to serve the Western Cape and nearby regions, the Cape Town office will play a role in strengthening Epson’s operations and expanding its footprint in the area.
Timothy Thomas, country manager at Epson South Africa, said “The opening of our Cape Town office is a significant milestone as we continue to strengthen our presence in South Africa and the wider African market. With a team of 80 staff members in South Africa this expansion enables us to better serve our customers in the Western Cape and beyond, demonstrating our commitment to driving innovation and sustainability in the region.”
The Cape Town office opening follows the establishment of Epson’s META-CWA (Middle East, Türkiye, Africa, and Central & West Asia) regional headquarters in Dubai in October 2024. This regional hub enables Epson to deliver tailored solutions across multiple sectors, including healthcare, education, retail and more.
Neil Colquhoun, president of Epson META-CWA highlighted that “Cape Town is a prominent technology hub in Southern Africa, with a thriving innovation ecosystem and growing influence in the digital transformation space. The city offers an exciting environment for technology companies like Epson to collaborate, create, and deliver solutions that cater to the needs of the region.
“Our new office in Cape Town reinforces our commitment to tapping into this dynamic tech ecosystem and supporting the continued growth of the Western Cape’s technology sector.”
Epson has increased its investments in the META-CWA region, with a 28.6% rise in facilities investment and a 45% increase in personnel investment between 2022 and 2024. The region has seen strong growth, particularly in education technology, with solutions growing over 100% from FY2022 to FY2023. With Africa positioned as a key market, Epson is poised to continue this positive trajectory in the years ahead.
By investing in key markets like Cape Town, Epson is positioning itself to be at the forefront of innovation, sustainability, and technology advancement in Southern Africa. With a clear focus on meeting the evolving needs of the region, Epson is well-poised to contribute to the growth of the Western Cape’s technology sector and drive long-term, sustainable success in Africa.
