Staycold International, manufacturers of commercial coolers and freezers, has recently become a member of Safehouse South Africa and received the organisation’s safety mark, reinforcing compliance to electrical safety standards.
This voluntary membership involves joining a network of South African companies that operate within recognised regulatory standards both locally and internationally, and take responsibility for compliance and independent verification.
Safehouse South Africa was established in 2012 to lobby local industry bodies and government to ensure standards are not compromised and electrical appliances operate safely in business, home, leisure and retail environments.
The South African market continues to face challenges with non-compliant products and services entering the supply chain. Such products can undermine businesses that invest in meeting recognized safety and quality standards by introducing lower-cost alternatives that may carry greater risk.
Safehouse South Africa is a non-profit organisation working to protect South African businesses and consumers from unsafe electrical products and services. They improve electrical compliance accountability and help address the growing presence of non-compliant products in the South African market.
Lena le Roux, Managing Director of Staycold International said: “Consumers should be able to trust that their electrical products are safe to use. We recognise the need for companies like Safehouse in South Africa and joined to complement our existing accreditations and certificates including ISO, IEC, SGS, Sedex, Kudos and NRCS to further support our commitment to manufacturing responsibly and supporting customer trust.”
Companies applying for Safehouse membership undergo a review process. Once accepted, members are added to the Safehouse directory and may use Safehouse’s logo on their products showing adherence to the highest electrical safety standards.
