The Matjhabeng Local Municipality Investment Summit took place on 6 August 2026 at the Feder Meyer Hall in Welkom. The event brought together government, investors, financiers, business leaders, industry stakeholders and other strategic partners to explore opportunities that can accelerate investment, stimulate economic growth and unlock Matjhabeng’s development potential.
Held under the theme “From commitments to construction: Building strategic partnerships to unlock Matjhabeng’s next wave of investment,” the Symposium focused on moving beyond investment commitments towards tangible projects, infrastructure development, job creation and sustainable economic opportunities for the people of Matjhabeng.

Investment opportunity: Innovation hub seeks investment partners
The Matjhabeng Industrial Park refurbishment is now fully completed and operational, with all major construction deliverables successfully implemented and the facility secured, serviced and functional.
The Smart Place Centre is the final and most transformative component of the redevelopment, introducing a 4IR-enabled innovation hub within the industrial park. It will function as both a business incubation and acceleration hub for SMMEs, and a community digital empowerment centre for the broader Matjhabeng population.
