Overview
Oceans uMhlanga is planned to be a mixed-use lifestyle development within the uMhlanga Rocks Village node. This includes a high-end shopping mall, residential apartments and Radisson Blu Hotel.
Progress to date (@March 2026)
- Land preparation in terms of rezoning, building plans completed
- Phase 1: Hotel completed & operational
- Phase 2: Retail Mall – completed and operational
- Phase 3: Residential towers – North Tower completed with Certificate of Occupancy issued in Sep 2025
- South Tower – commenced in Oct 2025
- Phase 1: Road upgrades – completed
- Additional ancillary work on the roadworks – completed in June 2025
Next steps
Short term taxi holding and ranking facilities:
- Work on the holding facilities for both buses and minibus taxi is expected to commence as soon as the solution of identifying the sites is resolved.
- Work in formalising the existing temporary taxi rank to be completed once the holding facility is in place.
Phase 2: Alternative Permanent PTF
- Work to commence after SPLUMA approval
