Regarding one of Mpumalanga’s many fine agricultural assets supported by MEGA, we note that the securing of the necessary phytosanitary certification at Tekwane Citrus Farm has resulted in the farm and its products being granted access to Asian markets. This is a clear turning point for Tekwane Citrus Farm and confirms our strategic decision in 2024 to stabilise operations, focus on core citrus production and align the farm to international export standards is yielding results.
The certifications to export produce into Asian markets complements the decision by China to introduce a zero-tariff policy for African goods which came into effect on 1 May 2026. Shipments will be made to China, the Philippines and Thailand, opening up lucrative opportunities for further growth and creating valuable links to global value chains.
