Global organised crime challenge demands a unified response: Key stakeholders to convene in Johannesburg

2nd Annual Transnational Organised Crime Prevention Conference | 20–21 October 2026 | Indaba Hotel, Johannesburg.

South Africa is known as a hotspot for criminal networks and it has a global affect. According to the Global Organized Crime Index 2025, SA’s criminality ranking scores 7,43 out of 10 – being 7th of 193 countries in the world and 1st of 13 countries in Southern African nations.

South Africa’s current priority is to create jobs and grow the economy, but equally important is protecting the infrastructure, resources, institutions, and economic opportunities that are being undermined by organised crime and, in turn, stifling economic growth.

An actionable blueprint for disruption

The central objective of the two-day Transnational Organise Crime Prevention Conference is to move the conversation from isolated responses to coordinated disruption of criminal networks.

Ankia Roux, Co-Owner of Pinpoint Stewards says: “The conference will focus particularly on disrupting the top 3 tiers of the illicit value chain with the objective of developing an actionable blueprint that can be taken beyond the conference room.” Roux adds, “at last years’ conference it was evident that no single agency, organisation or industry can solve this alone. The conference is ultimately about bringing together those who hold different pieces of the same puzzle and facilitate conversations in realizing how their capabilities can be unified against a common enemy of the state and society as a whole.”

The conference will therefore place particular emphasis on partnerships, trusted information sharing, intelligence-led interventions and technology-enabled disruption across land, air, sea and cyber environments.

Speaker organisations include: Pan African Resources, Transnet SOC Ltd, Border Management Authority (BMA), Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), South African Banking Risk Information Centre (SABRIC), Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC), Australian Federal Police, Department of Homeland Security U.S, Trikar Enterprise Solutions, Safer City Group and Jonker Kontrakteurs (Pty) Ltd.

The conference will discuss critical topics such as:

  • The cost of organised crime to South Africa and its people
  • The international influence of South African organised crime
  • Intelligence-led border interventions
  • Dismantling transnational organised crime networks
  • Copper trafficking and critical infrastructure crime
  • Critical infrastructure security
  • Synthetic narcotics in Africa
  • Prosecuting syndicate leaders and criminal networks
  • The illicit cannabis sector as organised crime
  • Economic warfare and complex financial crime
  • Forensic intelligence and investigative capability
  • Technology-driven interventions against organised crime

Open forums, break-away sessions and a panel discussion will address individual topics not discussed at the podium.
