The goal of the Mpumalanga Green Economy Cluster Agency (MGCA) is growing an inclusive green economy that fosters a sustainable environment and low carbon economy.
To this end, the following programmes are being pursued:
- Circular economy initiatives that focus on an Industrial Symbiosis programme. This includes waste recycling, renewable energy production and other similar initiatives.
- The “Just Energy Transition” programme that focuses on transitioning from coal to gas energy generation and the capturing of carbon from the emissions of power stations and other related energy generation projects.
- Utilization of mine water to support initiatives in rehabilitated land of derelict and closed out mines for agricultural use.
- Biomass, solar and wind initiatives to support the Renewable Energy Programme.
