The Eastern Cape hosted the Livestock Transformation Conference on 21–22 July 2026, a strategic initiative led by the Department of Agriculture and the National Agricultural Marketing Council (NAMC), with the support of ECDC and key industry partners.
The conference brought together government leaders, industry stakeholders, financiers, development institutions and emerging farmers to explore practical solutions that will strengthen the livestock value chain and create sustainable opportunities to transform the sector in line with the Agriculture and Agro-processing Masterplan (AAMP).
Over two days, delegates engaged in meaningful discussions on expanding market access, unlocking investment, strengthening enterprise development, improving access to finance and building strategic partnerships that empower emerging farmers. These conversations align with the objectives of the AAMP and reinforce a shared vision of a more inclusive, competitive and globally positioned livestock industry.
The ECDC continues to contribute to initiatives that strengthen agricultural value chains, support smallholder and emerging farmers, attract investment and stimulate sustainable economic growth across the Eastern Cape.
Together, we are laying the foundation for a resilient livestock sector that creates jobs, drives economic inclusion and unlocks lasting prosperity for our province.
