The AIDC-EC, a subsidiary of the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC), has marked another milestone in advancing sustainable mobility with the unveiling of the Port St Johns Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station at the scenic Silaka Nature Reserve, in partnership with the Eastern Cape Parks & Tourism Agency (ECPTA).
The charging station was officially unveiled by the Eastern Cape MEC for the Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism, Hon. Nonkqubela Pieters, who highlighted the importance of investing in infrastructure that supports economic growth, environmental sustainability and an inclusive Just Transition.
This investment reflects the Eastern Cape’s commitment to future-ready mobility, sustainable tourism and inclusive economic development.
By expanding EV infrastructure into destinations such as Port St Johns, the province is creating opportunities for local businesses, enhancing the visitor experience, strengthening tourism and positioning the Eastern Cape as a destination that embraces innovation while preserving its natural heritage.
Through partnerships such as these, the ECDC and AIDC-EC continue to stimulate economic activity, unlock investment, and build a more sustainable and inclusive future for the people of the Eastern Cape.
