The ECDC plays a key role in facilitating high value investment projects into the Eastern Cape. These projects have the potential for meaningful economic growth and job creation in the province.
One of these projects is Redcap Energy, which the ECDC assisted to implement their multi-billion-rand 110 MW Mpofu Wind Energy facility (WEF) near Jeffreys Bay.
This development includes the construction of approximately 100km of powerlines connecting to Nelson Mandela Bay.
Redcap Energy is the project developer, with Enel Green Power responsible for managing the WEF. Off-take agreements have been secured with Sasol and Air Liquide, and the green energy produced at the facility will be transmitted through the national grid to Gauteng.
