Soma Workshop (Pty) Ltd is an Eastern Cape-based engineering business that has been providing quality automotive services since 2016. Starting from humble beginnings in Mooiplaas, a rural village outside East London, the business has steadily grown and now operates from Gonubie, offering engine mechanical services, car servicing, and advisory support to vehicle owners.
With a strong commitment to quality and sustainable growth, Soma Workshop aims to make a meaningful impact in the automotive sector. The company operates with the philosophy of ensuring high service standards without compromising on quality, while continuously evolving to meet market demands.
In the 2024/25 financial year, the ECDC provided funding of R890,572.08, which allowed Soma Workshop to purchase a new towing truck. This investment will help the business expand its services, improve efficiency, strengthen profitability, and serve more customers.
The ECDC’s Manager for Enterprise Finance & Business Support (BCMM & Amathole), Ms. Buseka Ningi, and her team officially handed over the new towing truck to Soma Workshop, a milestone that marks new opportunities for growth and stronger participation in the provincial economy.
Through partnerships like these, the ECDC remains committed to helping local businesses grow, create jobs, and build a thriving, inclusive economy for the people of the Eastern Cape.
