Limited space left for the 2019 Joburg Indaba

Resources for Africa is pleased to announce the 7th edition of the Joburg Indaba, taking place on 2 & 3 October 2019 at the Inanda Club in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Since its inception, the Joburg Indaba has developed a remarkable reputation as a highly-regarded and influential industry platform which unpacks a wide range of critical issues affecting all stakeholders and thus enjoys overwhelming support from mining and resource companies, investors, labour, government and the media.

We are looking forward to welcoming you for more frank, open and honest discussions around the current state of the mining sector and how all stakeholders can work together to move the industry forward.

With the 2019 South African national elections now behind us, the mining industry is hoping for much anticipated clarity and certainty on the way forward for minerals policy and the Mining Charter. The 2019 Joburg Indaba will of course discuss and debate the key issues around the Charter and what Government needs to do to reinvigorate the industry and provide incentives to encourage FDI, along with other developments that take place between now and October.

We will consider how the mining industry landscape is changing, who is expanding their mining operations, who is divesting assets? We will unpack what macroeconomic factors affecting the and address key questions such as: How is the Fourth Industrial Revolution impacting the sector? How do the current energy and transport challenges influence mining operations? How is the global shift towards a low-carbon economy affecting mining in SA and elsewhere in Africa? All these key questions and more will be discussed in detail over the two days.

The Joburg Indaba will bring together CEOs and other senior representatives from the major mining houses, local and international investors, Government, parastatals, experts from legal and advisory firms and representatives from communities and organized labour to debate the above questions and more.

Our gala dinner will be held in the evening of 1st October when once again we will honour those who have made significant contributions to the industry by welcoming them into the SA Mining Hall of Fame.

We are delighted to announce that this year’s keynote speaker at the dinner will be Mark Cutifani, CEO, Anglo American.
