Gauteng welcomes R2-billion Soufflet Malt SA investment

The facility, set to open in 2027, will produce 100,000 tons of malt annually, creating 50–60 direct jobs and procuring 125,000 tons.

The Gauteng Province has hailed French multinational Soufflet Malt SA’s approximate R2-billion investment in a new malt production facility near HEINEKEN Beverages SA’s Sedibeng brewery in the Midvaal local municipality as a testament to Gauteng’s status as a premier destination for strategic, job-focused foreign direct investment (FDI).

The project, which aligns with the province’s agro-processing and infrastructure development priorities, underscores Gauteng’s unmatched combination of connectivity, skilled labour, and investor-friendly policies.

Why Gauteng?

Gauteng’s dynamic economy, contributing over 35% to South Africa’s GDP, offers investors access to continental markets, world-class logistics networks, and a growing emphasis on sustainable industrialisation. The province’s Agro-Processing Master Plan, coupled with initiatives to empower emerging farmers and SMEs, positions it as a catalyst for inclusive growth.

Gauteng is not just South Africa’s economic heartbeat, it is a gateway to Africa. Investments like Soufflet Malt SA’s validate the province’s strategy to attract sectors that drive employment, local procurement, and value-chain development. Gauteng’s infrastructure, coupled with proactive governance, ensures investors achieve both commercial success and social impact.
