The Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority (FASSET) is proud to announce yet another milestone achievement: a 98% overall performance achievement for the 2024/2025 financial year, alongside a fourth consecutive clean audit—an unqualified audit opinion with no findings from the Auditor-General of South Africa.
This remarkable performance underscores FASSET’s unwavering commitment to governance excellence, strategic execution, and inclusive transformation in the skills development landscape.
“It is with the greatest humility and deep appreciation that we share this achievement,” said Ayanda Mafuleka, CA(SA), CEO and Interim Accounting Authority of FASSET. “In a sector that demands both agility and accountability, FASSET has not only delivered on its mandate—we have surpassed it.”
The 98% performance rate reflects the Authority’s deliberate and measurable efforts to drive inclusive economic participation.
Key highlights from the year include:
-
- Targeted upskilling of rural and township-based unemployed youth;
- Scaled internship and learnership opportunities;
- Leadership development for women in the sector;
- Strengthened support for differently-abled learners;
- Continued improvements in internal systems and performance management.
Despite the recent challenges of the non-payment of the stipends to learners, the matter has received urgent attention for speedy resolution. Executive leadership continues to maintain operational stability and to prioritise the empowerment of underrepresented communities through skills development.
Achieving four consecutive clean audits is an exceptional accomplishment in the public sector and reflects a sustained culture of fiscal prudence, ethical leadership, and operational discipline.
“To the Department of Higher Education and Training, the FASSET team, and every FASSET stakeholder who has walked this journey with us—thank you! Siyabonga! Your support and shared commitment make these results possible,” added Mafuleka.
FASSET celebrates this milestone with humility, viewing it not as a finish line but as a renewed call to raise the bar even higher in delivering value to the sector, the economy, and the people of South Africa.
