The Sedibeng District Municipality is a Category C municipality situated on the southern tip of the Gauteng Province of South Africa and strategically located on the border of three other provinces, namely Free State, North West and Mpumalanga.

The Vaal SEZ locations offers investors a unique vantage on major logistics routes between Jhb-KZN as well as Jhb-Bloemfontein-Cape Town corridors.

The Sedibeng District Municipality is the only area in the province that is situated on the banks of the Vaal River and Vaal Dam, covering the area formerly known as the Vaal Triangle. The municipality is a short distance from Johannesburg along the scenic Vaal, Klip and Suikerbos Rivers. It is comprised of the Emfuleni, Lesedi and Midvaal Local Municipalities, and includes the historic townships of Evaton, Sebokeng, Boipatong, Bophelong, Sharpeville and Ratanda, which have a rich political history and heritage.

Lesedi Local Municipality

Portion 5 of Farm Langlaagte 186

  • Access to the N3 to Johannesburg and KZN through the Jacob Street off-ramp
  • Size: 149 ha
  • Location: Land adjacent to the Heidelberg Airport
  • Status: Greenfield (un-serviced land)
  • Site development strategy: Light Industrial


Heidelberg Ext. 24

  • Ownership: Lesedi Local Municipality
  • Access to the N3 to Johannesburg and KZN through the Jacob Street off-ramp
  • Size: 25 ha
  • Location: Inside the Heidelberg Industrial Park
  • Status: Serviced land
  • Site development strategy: Light Industrial


Midvaal Local Municipality

Portion 25 of the Farm Zwartkopjies No. 143-IR

  • Ownership: Rand Water
  • Access to the R59 to Johannesburg and Vereeniging
  • Size: 2000 ha but focus is on 500 ha (phase 1)
  • Location: Across from the Klipriver Business Park
  • Status: Greenfield (un-serviced land), currently not included in the Urban Edge
  • Site development strategy: Agri-Processing & Agri-Voltaic


Farm Kookfontein

  • Ownership: Midvaal Local Municipality
  • Access to the R59 to Johannesburg and Vereeniging through the Pierneef off-ramp
  • Size: 100 ha
  • Location: Next to the SA Steel Mills
  • Status: Greenfield (un-serviced land)
  • Site development strategy: Heavy Industrial


Emfuleni Local Municipality

Land Parcel E: Portions 2 and 3 of Farm Rietspruit 583IQ

Access to the N1 to Johannesburg and Bloemfontein through the R42 and R57 off-ramps
Size: 697 ha
Location: 3,4 km from ArcelorMittal Vanderbijlpark Works
Status: Greenfield (un-serviced land)
Site development strategy: Home of the Gauteng Hydrogen Valley & Light Industrial
