The oil and gas sector has the potential to become a critical game changer in Africa
Namibia is fast emerging as one of the world’s final frontiers for oil exploration with the recent sizeable oil discoveries. The country’s vast natural resources are estimated at 11 billion barrels of oil and 2.2 trillion cubic feet of natural gas reserves (Wood Mackenzie 2023).
This represents sufficient quantities of hydrocarbon reserves to turn the country into a hub of upstream oil and gas exploration activities and a significant player in the oil and gas world markets.
Under the theme, ‘Leveraging the Recent Oil Discoveries for Inclusive Development’, the event will bring together key role players in Namibia and the international oil and gas value chain, to exchange views on the potential opportunities and challenges in establishing the oil and gas sector.
The conference will discuss a broad spectrum of issues around investment opportunities, legal requirements, value chains, financing, and job creation in the emerging oil and gas sector.
