Let’s come together and clean-up Bellville

The Greater Tygerberg Partnership's (GTP) better. bellville. together. initiative is geared towards economic growth and making Bellville a cleaner, safer and more beautiful place to live, work and play.

The upcoming better. bellville. together. community clean-up campaign, in collaboration with The Greater Tygerberg Partnership (GTP), is part of the recently launched City-funded place-making project that was activated in Bellville’s CBD. The better. bellville. together. initiative is geared towards economic growth and making Bellville a cleaner, safer and more beautiful place to live, work and play.

Taking place twice a month from Wednesday, 29 March until the end of June 2023, this community-wide initiative will bring together residents, local businesses, and community groups to work towards a common goal – a cleaner and better Bellville.

Volunteers will receive the necessary tools and guidance to take part in the clean-up efforts. This includes gloves, compost bucket, reusable bags, and empty plastic bottles to make Eco bricks.

“For an area like Bellville to thrive, it is important that the community are involved in all avenues of a local system, and waste is no exception. We want the residents and businesses of Bellville to come and show their support for a cleaner Bellville, and actively be part of the waste solution,” says Candice Mostert, waste project management lead for the better. bellville. together. initiative.

Grab a bag and win a prize

Determined to make this a memorable experience for all involved, the organisers will be dishing out spot prizes during each clean-up to reward the hard work, including vouchers, nifty water bottles and sun hats. The first 30 volunteers to sign up will also receive a limited-edition better. bellville. together. community clean-up bag, t-shirt and refreshments.

The community clean-up campaign will work in various areas of the Bellville CBD throughout the next three months and interested volunteers are encouraged to bring their own water bottle, hat and sunblock, and wear comfortable shoes.

Volunteers should arrive at the GTP Express Coffee & Kiosk, Teddington Rd, Bellville on Wednesday, 29 March at 9:30 AM for a short group orientation.
