Leago Media Solutions (LMS) is a 51% black female owned contract media company with offices in Polokwane and Cape Town, providing clients in Limpopo Province with bespoke media and communications solutions.


The LMS leadership team comprises Shiko Diala, Chris Whales and Clive During, who together bring a wealth of business-to-business (B2B) media expertise and a long working relationship with key stakeholders in Limpopo Province, uniquely positioning the company to provide bespoke solutions across print media, online and social media channels. The team has established working relationships with key stakeholders in Limpopo since 2006, encompassing local and provincial government, and the business and investment promotion communities. Media agency and communications strategy
Many media agencies have good business-to-consumer (B2C) expertise, but lack the necessary expertise to formulate and implement effective B2B strategies. LMS, on the other hand, is uniquely positioned to fulfil the role of media agency in the B2B and investment space, with services including full media planning and strategy; all creative material (concept and design); as well as the placement of content on behalf of clients to ensure maximum effectiveness of the media plan implementation. We work closely with clients to devise the right media strategy across four media platforms: print, online (websites and e-newsletters), social media and events.

Brand activation
Brand is so much more than a logo; rather, it involves activating the brand across multiple channels to achieve maximum engagement. Our services include the development of a recognisable brand customised for effectiveness across different media platforms (from online to events, advertisements and company stationery).

Content and research
Instead of the ad hoc approach to content generation practised by many organisations and agencies, our preferred method is to work closely with clients to research and generate content that can be customised for applications across different media channels, thus providing a properly coordinated and cost-effective strategy and implementation.

Print media
Bespoke marketing and information publications and brochures researched, written, designed and printed by an expert B2B and investment promotion team. Services include working closely with clients and a full client approval process.

Online and social media
Development and management of an appropriately sized online portal aligned with the client’s needs and objectives. Our management service includes promoting the client’s portal to relevant business and investment communities in South Africa and internationally through social media campaigns and other online media outreach, such as customised email newsletter campaigns. While there are a plethora of social media offerings, our strategy targets investment-effective platforms and avoids the ‘noise’ of the many consumer-based options which have very limited effect in achieving business and investment objectives. Business and investor events
In keeping with our strategy of creating maximum engagement, our events, from an intimate networking breakfast to multi-national conferencing, are designed to stimulate engagement of customers and stakeholders that does not end with the event itself; instead, we activate various channels to ensure that the networking opportunities are extended long after the event itself. This is achieved through reports, social media, TV streaming and podcasts, and continuing online interaction.

Shiko Diala has worked in B2B media for 13 years, her first appointment being as a sales executive with Highbury Safika in 2005, where she focused on the JSE Securities Exchange publication. Shiko’s promotion was rapid: she fulfilled the roles of project manager, launching  corporate social investment publications, and was further promoted to the role of divisional manager for B2B. In this role Shiko co-conceptualised a publication in celebration of 30 years of the 16 June 1976 uprisings, Our Youth for Life,  in partnership with the National Youth Commission and the June 16 Foundation. This initiative saw her being selected by the Presidency, in 2008, as part of a team to represent South Africa in Norway in celebration of Nelson Mandela Week. Shiko joined Global Africa Network Media in 2009, in the Cape Town office, where she was appointed as Business Development Manager for the Limpopo region. This led to her relocating to Polokwane, her home city, where she is now based, responsible for Limpopo, Gauteng, North West, Free State and Mpumalanga. Shiko worked in Cape Town after attending the University of Cape Town, but grew up and lives in Limpopo, and so it is appropriate that she should now be focusing her media and business activities in Limpopo Province.

Chris, who holds a gold medal MBA from UCT and has over 25 years’ experience in the media industry, is the Publishing Director of Global Africa Network Media (GAN). His position has seen him the directing the publishing team responsible for the entire publishing process of GAN’s proprietorial provincially-focused B2B print and online titles (including the Limpopo Business journal), whose clients include SEZs and IDZs including the Musina-Makhado and Tubatse SEZs in Limpopo, the Nkomazi SEZ in Mpumalanga, the Coega and East London IDZs in the Eastern Cape and the Richards Bay IDZ in KwaZulu-Natal. Through its media properties GAN actively promotes investment projects across a wide range of sectors, including renewable energy and solar energy, for a number of government bodies including but not limited to the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GGDA), the Free State Development Corporation (FDC), Invest Durban and the West Coast District Municipality. GAN also publishes a national title, South African Business, as well as South Africa’s premier trade and investment email newsletter, Frontier Invest, since 2003. Frontier Invest is officially endorsed by the National Department of Cooperative Government and Traditional Affairs (COGTA). Chris also directs GAN’s print and online distribution network and media partnerships division (this covers more than 80 of the country’s premier business, industry and investment conferences), and manages relationships with a wide range of private and public sector stakeholders such as the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) and the Department of Trade and Industry (dti), Chambers of Commerce and organised business, and regional Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs).


Clive has been the managing director at GAN since 2006, and his responsibilities included finance, administration, and business development in Africa, which have included partnerships with the Investment Promotion Corporation and Lagos State Government in Nigeria, and the Kenyan Investment Authority. Before joining GAN, Clive led the South African office of 365 plc, an LSE-listed online media company. He was also a founding member of Integrated Publishing Solutions, a publishing services company specialising in packaging services for UK-based clients, including the Telegraph Group, Dorling Kindersley, and Macmillan Oxford. Clive and Chris were founding directors of Matchdeck Ltd, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) data company in the UK. They are both still shareholders of the UK company and continue to oversee data sales in South Africa.
