Mining Indaba 2018 – the platform for sustainable mining growth

Projected attendance is currently estimated to be over 220 mining companies, including 160 plus junior mines.

Mining Indaba has been working with all the key African mining sector stakeholders over the past 12 months, to cement its position as Africa’s only mining event.

“The Mining Indaba is the biggest investment in mining event in the world – it’s where deal-making happens. Projected attendance is currently estimated to be over 220 mining companies, including 160 plus junior mines.”

“We initiated a series of changes to the 2017 event to bring Mining Indaba back to its roots, and to meet the changing needs of the mining industry. For 2018, we’ll be further enhancing networking and deal-making platforms,” says Alex Grose, Mining Indaba MD.

The changes seem to be resonating with people across the industry, with Norman MacDonald from Invesco saying, “The theme of Mining Indaba becoming focused more towards investing and company access has brought me back to this great event for the first time in four years. The main stage commodity panels and market outlook presentations are much more geared to the best use of my time while I am in Cape Town. This format coupled with the 1-1 investor program allows me to be very productive throughout my time here.”

Making the Junior Mining companies more visible to investors has been a significant focus for 2018, and has seen the launch of the Junior Mining Showcase at the heart of the event. “Identifying and working with key partners has been instrumental in creating this exciting new feature, hosting 60 of the hottest emerging minors with projects across Africa. It’s important for us at Mining Indaba to support growth in the industry, and that growth is coming from the juniors.”

Spaces in the Showcase are being snapped up fast with Kibaran Resources, IronRidge Resources, Deep-South Resources and White Rivers Exploration all signing up in the last three days!

2017 saw over 350 investors attending on the Investor Relations programme, which is free for qualified, buy-side investors. “That’s a big differentiator for us – the investors who attend the event have capital ready to invest in projects,” says Alex.
