Growing the bottom line for SMME’s is an imperative exercise for big businesses in South Africa

The biggest gathering of service providers in Kwa-Zulu Natal, the 2nd Annual Smart Procurement World (SPW) Regional Summit, will take place 5 & 6 June 2017 at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Convention Centre (Durban ICC).

SPW brings together top speakers from public and private sectors to engage delegates under the theme, the role procurement and supply chain can play to achieve radical economic transformation and the strategic value to grow the bottom line for SMME’s across KwaZulu Natal.

Significantly, the conference comes at a time when the KZN Treasury Department has been engaging suppliers on the Revised Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act Regulations (RPPPF) since April 2017. The keynote address presented by Takalani Tambani, Chief Director: Black Industrialist Programme, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will tackle the supply chain’s collaborative approach to radical economic transformation tabled in this Act.

Adv Siza Mthethwa, General Manager: KZN Supply Chain Management, Kwazulu Natal Provincial Treasury shared, “We are pleased to share with you the agenda and collaborative platform whereby KZN Provincial Treasury and other stakeholders from the province will address how to continue to deliver on the commitment via Operation Vula, utilising procurement & supply chain levers to drive Radical Economic Transformation.”

He will be addressing the attendees on 6th June with the following PROVINCIAL TREASURY KEYNOTE ADDRESS: How should the public and private sectors interpret policy and translate it into meaningful economic development?

The conference will offer delegates an opportunity to engage with other delegates and speakers at the Public Sector Supply Chain Summit and Smart Sourcing & Supply Management Conference and with various exhibitors at Enterprise & Supplier Development Expo.

Buy, Build and Grow the local economy

Proudly South African hosted its 6th annual Buy Local Summit & Expo in Johannesburg in April. Our biggest event yet, we attracted almost 150 exhibitors, many of whom have been part of the Expo since its inception. They return each year to generate additional business by finding and becoming new suppliers in the business to business exposure they receive from such an event. Their success has attracted new exhibitors, all of whom are there to exploit the sales opportunity it represents. In addition we will be launching a Buy Local Summit in KZN, in partnership with Smart Supplier.”, Chief Officer: Marketing & Communications Mrs. Happy Ngidi stated.

The summit will also provide a one stop shop where government and private entities, who are the regulators of many aspects of establishing and sustaining a legal and compliant business, set up to dispense advice and assist with the practicalities of tax issues, labour legislation, salary contributions and labelling.

On the list of top speakers this year is Vusi Thembekwayo – Global Business Speaker, who will speak at the Enterprise & Supplier Development Expo/ Buy Local Summit event. Leading the keynote address on the global perspective and the international best practice used to measure, analyse and manage supplier performance, will be Ian George, International Procurement Transformation Lead, United Kingdom.
