The South African Science, Technology and Innovation Indicators report is an annual publication of the National Advisory Council on Innovation (NACI). Over the years, the report has proven to be useful by creating a platform for discussions on the state of science, technology and innovation (STI) in South Africa.
A framework that is used for this report is that of the South African Innovation Scorecard developed by NACI in the 2016/17 financial year. This framework categorises STI activities into three components, namely: public sector’s enabling activities, firmlevel innovation activities and economic and social outputs of innovation. NACI continuously engages in dialogues to enhance this framework.
The 2019 South African Science, Technology and Innovation Indicators report was launched on 26 July 2019 under the theme; Policy Coherence within a Rapidly Changing Innovation Landscape. The roadshow will also include a focused panel discussion.
