Join us for the Trade and Investment Businesss Forum on Wednesday, 22 February as Willie Coetsee, the head of strategy for Transnet’s 16 port terminals, will address the Durban Chamber’s Trade & Investment forum on Transnet Port Terminal’s role in facilitating trade in South Africa.

  • Presentation: TPT’s Role in Facilitating Trade in South Africa
  • Presented by: Willie Coetsee: Head of Strategy

TPT is responsible for Transnet SOC Ltd’s terminal operations. Port terminals are essential nodes in the transport supply chain, acting as the “aorta” supplying life giving blood to the economy. South Africa’s ports are well placed on the South-to-South trade routes, offering the shortest distance between China and South America. This explains SA’s inclusion in the BRICS-partnership.

Coming out of a challenging 2016, looking at a PESTEL-analysis will provide some insight into which rends will continue and where changes can be expected.

Transnet is playing a key role in Operation Phakisa, aimed at deriving value from the blue economy. TPT is committed to improving trade by amongst others, investing in infrastructure, continuously improving efficiencies and reducing the cost of doing business in South Africa.

Also we will have a panel discussion with the 2016 KZN Exporter of the year winners who will share their success and challenges.
